Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch
Hip flexor release, lunge position
How to
Kneel on one knee with the other foot planted in front, both knees bent near 90 degrees. Keeping your torso upright, shift your weight forward slightly until a stretch is felt at the front of the back hip.
Benefits
- Directly targets hip flexors shortened by long periods of sitting
- Tight hip flexors are linked to lower-back discomfort, so this often helps both
- A cushion or folded towel under the back knee makes it more comfortable
Practice
Hold 20-30 seconds per side, keeping the front knee aligned over the ankle rather than pushing past the toes.
