Inner Sound Meditation

Sound

How to

In a quiet space, close the eyes and ears (gently, with the hands) and listen inward for the subtle sounds the nervous system itself produces — a ringing, humming, or pulse — rather than any sound from outside.

Benefits

  • A traditional yogic practice using sound as the object of concentration
  • Deepens quickly once the outer senses are withdrawn
  • Distinct from other techniques here by turning attention fully inward

Practice

10-15 minutes in a genuinely quiet room; results vary and some sessions may reveal little sound at all, which is normal.
